The leadership workshop is tailored to the engineer as leader of other engineers, technical personnel, and non-technical workers in an technical firm, a manufacturing company, or an R&D organization. "Refined" implies a subtle approach consistent with human nature and acting powerfully behind the scenes. Your new direct or indirect influence will not be obvious to those less initiated, although successful outcomes will be very noticeable to those only looking for end results. What is most important, the people you manage and with whom you closely work will feel a difference in a positive way about themselves and about their work.
Leadership is allowing and encouraging goals to be achieved by others, but it must include a better understanding of leading oneself. You can help give meaning to the many tasks and difficulties that make up each day and to help yourself and others not loose sight of the higher purpose.
"Expressly for engineers" is an important element of the workshop. How does one foster the appropriate environment for successful outcomes to emerge when creativity and complex problem solving is required by quick-paced and challenging business demands. How are highly educated engineers, who can be thought of as ultra-knowledge workers, energized and motivated as compared with others?
This workshop will be the start of finding your own leadership style by offering a model of leadership that draws much on human nature and the personality of the engineer. About the Instructor—Randall P. Vendetti, P.E. is Principal of Techne Synergies LLC, a consulting firm in engineering management and product development. He has worked in business and industry leading to positions as department head of engineering for a number of capital equipment manufacturers. He is a licensed professional engineer, holds a BS in mechanical engineering degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and an Executive Master of Technology Management (EMTM) degree from Stevens Institute of Technology. He is author of the book A Model of Leadership, How to Manage and Lead in Engineering and Creative Enterprise (ISBN 978-0-9831376-0-3).
